AWS Finland June Meetup - Sponsored by Knowit and AWS
June’s meetup was hosted at Knowit’s premises with AWS as co-sponsor. Knowit provided the venue and AWS handled food and beverages, which made for a well-organized evening. We were aiming for 100 people and came close, with 92 attendees packing the space. Doors opened at 17:30 and the program ran from 18:00 until 21:00.
Rolf Koski from Knowit delivered a talk on practical sustainability in the cloud, taking a holistic view that went beyond just emissions and energy consumption to look at the broader picture of what sustainable cloud operations actually mean. Igor Soroka from Soroka Tech followed with a deep technical session on migrating from a serverless monolith to AWS AppSync, walking through the architecture decisions and tradeoffs involved in breaking apart a monolithic serverless application.
The momentum from the May meetup carried over nicely. Having both Knowit and AWS involved meant the content had both a practitioner angle and direct insights from the source. The networking portion ran well past the scheduled end time, which is always a good sign that people are engaged and enjoying the conversations.
Thanks to Knowit and AWS for making this one happen. The user group was picking up real steam heading into summer.
