AWS Finland October Meetup - sponsored by Eficode

AWS Finland October Meetup - sponsored by Eficode

The October meetup brought us to Eficode’s office on Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu. Doors opened at 17:30 and the program started at 18:00, with Miska Braun from Eficode welcoming everyone. Around 60 people joined for the evening, which felt like a good size for the venue and allowed for more intimate conversations compared to some of our larger events.

Rolf Koski opened the talks with news from the AWS Finland community, and then we got into the main event. Kari Sutela from Signant Health and Tuomas Leppilampi from Eficode presented together on Signant Health’s EKS migration, sharing the real story of moving to Kubernetes on AWS – the wins, the struggles, and the lessons learned along the way. It was exactly the kind of honest, practical content that makes these meetups worthwhile. Hearing from both the customer and the partner side of a migration gives you the full picture in a way that a single-perspective talk cannot.

The networking afterwards was relaxed and productive. Lots of conversations about tooling choices, how different teams handle multi-account strategies, and the usual healthy debate about which IaC tool is the right one. Spoiler: there is no single right answer, but that never stops the discussion.

Good to see the meetup year winding down with consistent attendance and quality content. The Finnish AWS community keeps showing up, and events like this one at Eficode remind me why organizing these meetups is worth the effort.
