AWS Finland September #2 Meetup at S-Group

The second September meetup was hosted by SOK at Ässäkeskus on Fleminginkatu, with Niko Kivela making it all happen on the host side. The turnout was massive – 95 people packed the venue, making this one of the biggest meetups of the year.

We had three excellent community presentations that evening. Ari Luokkala and Markus Toivakka shared their journey with Account Factory for Terraform (AfT), giving the audience a candid look at what the adoption process actually looks like. Junsheng Tan followed up with a talk on how to thrive with DynamoDB, covering patterns and practices that go beyond the documentation. And Debojyoti Mahapatra closed the talks with a presentation on how FinOps engineers get the invoice down – a topic that resonated with pretty much everyone in the room.

The atmosphere was electric with that many people present. Questions flew during the talks, and the networking afterwards was intense in the best possible way. You could barely move between conversations, and that is exactly the kind of problem you want at a meetup.

Two packed September events back to back confirmed what we already knew: the Finnish AWS community is one of the most active user groups out there. The autumn season was off to a flying start.
